The Secret to Creating Affiliate Marketing Leads
Using a mailing list, that you, yourself have created, would have to be the best way to get affiliate marketing leads. We are not talking about the old fashioned method, of buying 1000-name mailing lists, but creating opt-in e-mail mail lists. This is where rather than paying for a list of dubious prospective clients, you create a list of targeted names, that actually agree to be on your list. For Free!
You need a simple website that provides useful information on how to do something specific – such as “house-train your puppy”, or “build a deck”, or similar, ‘real’ information. You use this website to promote one or more products, or affiliate programs you feel are appropriate to the subject of the webpage. You might then link that to a CD, or ebook that teaches “how to house-train your puppy”, or “build a deck”, and generate sales through your affiliate links, that you will have inserted throughout the product. Linking to a shop that supplies the necessary equipment to complete these projects, will also earn you a commission from anyone who clicks through from your website.
Whatever type of affiliate marketing you use, provided your site has relevant information to attract visitors, you can generate affiliate marketing leads by creating your own mailing list – by providing some of sign-up form.
This can be as simple as a guest-book sign-in, or as relatively complicated as an opt-in page. No matter which you choose (all can be found on the internet for free), you must be offering something – for nothing. Now, this can be a subscription to an ezine, downloading a report, graphics, stickers, coupons, etc. Possibly a membership. Whatever, you MUST offer something – if you just have some form there and say “Sign Here!” and nothing else, who exactly do you think will sign that? Would YOU?
A guest-book sign-in is more of a courtesy from the prospective subscriber, so make sure you really pile on the gifts and or information. An opt-in page, is really a sales page convincing the prospect why you are such a great person, and that you are going to ‘give’ them all these goodies – if they just fill in the form with their name and email address.
The goodies that you then pass on to these prospects, is dotted throughout with your affiliate links. If your prospect chose not to subscribe, fair enough, you provide a link on that same page allowing them to bypass your fabulous offer, and continue on to the information they originally wanted.
An autoresponder, is a service, or software for emailing lists. These can be easily found on the internet – some are free, most you will have to pay for (you get what you pay for). Immediately the prospect fills in your form, the software kicks in – and will send a confirmation email to them. When they click to confirm, the software will then either, automatically send their download, or, redirect them to a page where they will be able to download the goodies, or, enter the membership site. An autoresponder keeps a record of every sign-up and allows you to send emails to them all at once, or, you can specify which day the emails are to be sent. Autoresponders will also recognize bogus email addresses, dis-allowing anyone that tries to circumvent the process of collecting legitimate prospective client email addresses.
Once people have opted-in, you have a captive audience for your affiliate marketing links. You no longer have to wait for them to visit your site. Write a series of articles about whatever the website subject was, add some tips, maybe another report, include your affiliate links or whatever you are promoting, and send it straight to their inboxes, via your autoresponder. This is an excellent way to generate affiliate marketing leads, from people who have already indicated that they are receptive to the products you’re selling.
